Terms of Use

1. About Caddie Live

Caddie Live ("we", "us", "the service") is a digital golf scoring and companion application operated by Simon Berriman, a sole trader (freelance) based in Germany, trading as Chip Putt Putt. By creating an account or using the service you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Caddie Live is — and is not

Caddie Live helps you record golf scores, compute progress indices, share rounds with friends, and organise events. Caddie Live is not:

• An official handicap authority. We do not maintain, issue, or certify World Handicap System (WHS) indexes. Any handicap shown in the app is either a value you have entered yourself (which we display unmodified) or our internal Current Playing Index (CPI), which is not an official handicap and must not be used in formal competition where a WHS index is required.
• A rules authority. Rulings provided by our AI assistant are advisory and based on our interpretation of the R&A Rules of Golf as published. Final decisions in any official competition rest with the relevant committee, referee, or competition organiser.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including any handicap index you enter manually. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. One account per person.

4. Your content

Scores, rounds, photos, and any other content you create or upload remain yours. You grant Caddie Live a non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the service. You can delete your content at any time via the in-app controls or by contacting us.

User-submitted course data is published publicly within the app and may be edited by other users. You acknowledge that course data you submit may be modified or corrected by other players.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to harass, defame, or harm other users
• Attempt to access another user's account without permission
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract the service's source code
• Submit deliberately false course data, scores, or handicap values
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Share your account credentials with others

6. Credits and payments

• Credits are purchased in packs and never expire
• Credits are non-refundable once used
• Unused credits will be refunded if we close the service with reasonable notice
• All payments are processed by Stripe — we do not store your card details
• Prices are shown in GBP, EUR, or USD depending on your location

7. Service availability

The service is provided "as is" with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, with reasonable notice for material changes where practical.

8. Intellectual property

All content, design, and code is owned by Chip Putt Putt. The Rules of Golf are the intellectual property of the R&A and USGA.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Caddie Live and Chip Putt Putt shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: incorrect handicap calculations, missed competitions due to service downtime, or disputes arising from rulings provided by the AI assistant.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice except in cases of abuse or legal requirement.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be notified to active users via email or in-app notice. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Where you use the service as a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
